    I wonder how do you determine the age and gender of an “anonymous” website visitor? Can I read more on that somewhere?

    You can use any information given to you by your customer. For example, if your site has an age verification, or you ask your customers for a DOB when they set up an account, you can use this information as long as it’s willfully volunteered to you by the visitor. Same goes for gender, address, etc…

    When ClickTale generates these heatmaps however, the information IS anonymous, as you CANNOT tell which of the two thousand 50 year old males on your site (for example) looked at what button, merely an aggregation of all their actions.

    To clarify, we do not do any form of data mining to find out visitor’s age or gender, nor do we set these events as defaults. For more information please take a look at our privacy policy.
